Can Bougainvillea grow in a pot on an apartment balcony in Austin, Texas?

Though i do not own the apartment yet, the one I'm looking at gets about 3/4 sunlight. I want the shrub to grow up an arbor that I have built around the opening of my small balcony. I was thinking of planting one vine on either side of the Balcony opening.

They would definitively grow nicely in your balcony, but be sure to give the roots enough room for it to grow big enough for it to bloom nicely. Be sure to water it enough (not too much though), and get as much light as possible. My house, and my block has a number of them in various colors, and it has been our experience that it need enough sun, and it's better to have it in a large pot and not in the soil, because it grows too much and can become a problem maintenance-wise.
Reply:I would say yes as long as it gets enough light. I think its spelled differently, though, not sure how. Pronounced boukamvilla. It is one of the prettiest flowers, or plants, and i like your idea, of creating like a heart shape.
Reply:It will actually grow really fast, but careful of those hot days, give it a fair bit of water, the roots prefer to stay cool. Maybe a little bark dust around the base.
